Wherever you are in your writing journey, The Editor’s Mark would like to be of assistance where we can. Below are some resources that may be of use to you in your writing process and beyond. For full disclosure I do receive a small affiliate fee for some of these products/services, but I own or use them all myself.
Scrivener is a writer’s software I discovered when looking for a resource to keep track of a very long and complex book I was editing. Designed for writers, it helps you
- keep track of characters, plot lines and subplots
- isolate chapters so you can follow one character’s or plot’s development
- move chapters around to consolidate, give better flow or clarify timeline
- efficiently and safely edit your work, and remove danger of accidental deletions.
It is inexpensive to purchase. I strongly recommend you invest the time to do the in-software tutorial so you get the most out of it. You don’t have to use all the features, but its good to know what’s available. And, if you decide you want to incorporate a feature, its better to use it from the start of a project to save time later.
Every writer needs a website, whether you decide to publish yourself or through an established publisher. I was exclusively a web design/developer for 15 years before I branched out into editing, and have worked with speakers and writers in their marketing. Blue Host provides domain name and web hosting, and had been my preferred provider for almost all that time, for all my clients, but also for all my personal and family member’s business websites. Periodically I look around to see what’s out there for web hosting but always find Blue Host to be the best option.
